Why does NetGain Agent require 3 ports?
Agent supports 2 modes of network communication, to handle different "firewalled" network environment:
1. Agent communication via EM-server initiated connection In this mode, the agent running in the managed device uses the Java Remote Invocation (RMI) protocol and will listen TCP 1850 for incoming connection request and re-direct the incoming client to connect to port 1802 of the device and EM-server will issue monitor requests via this connection to port 1802. Communication is encrypted with SSL sockets.
2. Agent communication via Agent initiated connection to EM server In this mode, the agent running in the managed device will connect to TCP port 81 of EM server and use the connection to receive monitoring requests from the EM server. Communication is encrypted with SSL sockets.
