Solution

  1. Check whether the device can ping from NetGain
  2. Check firewall rules
         ~SNMP communication
                 -Connection initiated from EM:
                        Managed Device's UDP port 161
                 -Connection initiated from Managed Device:
                        EM's UDP port 162
         ~Agent communication:
                 -Connection initiated from EM:
                        Managed Device's TCP port 1802 & 1850
                 -Connection initiated from Managed Device:
                         EM's TCP port 81
  3. Check the inputs such as Community name if SNMP based
  4. Check agent log whether started successfully if agent based
