How install Agent on UNIX/Linux

- After downloading agent-setup.tar.gz (UNIX or Linux version > 2.4.20) or agent-setup- rh71.tar.gz (Linux version < 2.4.20) make a directory for the installation, for example /home/netgain-agent by entering “mkdir /home/netgain-agent”.
- Move the installation file to the directory by entering “mv agent-setup.tar.gz /home/netgain- agent”.
- Extract the installation file by entering “gunzip agent-setup.tar.gz” and then “tar xvf agent- setup.tar”.
Configure the connection between NetGain Agent and NetGain EM by entering “cd /home/netgain-agent/netgain/bin” and then “./agent_setup.sh”. Enter the following values:
- Please enter the domain for the agent to connect : “Default”
Please enter the server for agent to connect: “192.168.1.89” (this is the IP address of NetGain EM server)
Please enter the IP address for agent: “192.168.1.99” (this is the IP address of the NetGain Agent)
- Please enter the path for java: “/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_10/bin” (JRE location)
- Please enter the path for agent installation: “/home/netgain-agent” (directory where you installed NetGain Agent)
Start NetGain Agent by entering “cd /home/netgain-agent/netgain/bin” and then “./agent_start.sh”.
- Verify that NetGain Agent starts by entering “cat nohup.out”.
Check that NetGain Agent is listening on TCP port number 1802 and 1850 by entering “#netstat –an | grep 1802” and then “#netstat –an | grep 1850”. Port 81 also should be enabled through firewall.
- Login to NetGain Web Interface and under the Systems Functions menu, click System Admin | Agent | Test. In the Test Agent screen that appears, enter the IP address of the UNIX/Linux server or workstation. If the test fails, repeat the installation
